These brooches are assembled using coloured slip-trailed pieces to create delicate abstract forms which can be worn as brooches. Again the process takes on a life of its own with no pre-determined design. Whilst trailing repeat slip lines and shapes Sandra considers how they will be assembled making each piece unique in its finished state. Sandra’s buttons are created using pre- carved plaster domes which are pressed into concave slip filled moulds. Oxides are applied to highlight the lined impressions in the clay, before the transparent glaze is applied. A lengthy time consuming process which she hopes you’ll like.
